It has felt like 7 years. I feel that I amprogressing very nicely and my ankle is getting better. I haveresumed playing one-on-one against our workout coach, ShawnRespert. I do not have pain when I play one-on-one which is a greatsign. I became concerned last week, however, when I had someswelling in my ankle after a workout. The doctors ordered me toreduce my workouts to reduce the swelling. After a few days, I wasable to get the swelling out and resume workouts.

I have a deep bone bruise in my ankle and will have to missthe next four weeks to rest my foot. That means that I will missthe start of training camp and all of the preseason games. Thedoctors are optimistic that I'll be able to fully recover for theseason and that I should be able to control the pain for theremainder of the year.

I just watched the opening ceremonies and I was in awe of thespectacular show of the Opening Ceremonies. I have never seenanything like it. The Bird's Nest looked absolutely perfect and theatmosphere was electric. When I toured the Bird's Nest last summer,I had my doubts over whether the builders would be able to finishconstruction before the opening ceremony. Wow, was I wrong orwhat?

I know how important the opening ceremonies were for China. It wasa re-introduction of China's history and traditions to the world. Iam certain that the world watching was also impressed.

I was so happy for my good friend Yao Ming. I know he was so proudto lead his countrymen into the Olympics. The story of the youngboy who was a hero during the Sichuan Earthquake was also aninspiring story. It looked like he was having a great time outthere. I don't know if he understood the magnitude and significanceof the night, but he did an outstanding job.

The choreography and the artistry of the opening ceremonies wasnothing short of jaw-dropping. It was so beautiful and theprecision with which it was executed was also so impressive. I canonly imagine the time it took to practice and perfect the routines.My personal favorite was the painting that the different dancerspainted of the mountains and the sun. It was so cool to have allthe athletes walk over the painting and add color to the painting.It was just so creative.

I am looking forward to the competition of the games. The Olympicsare a special time when the world can come together and forgettheir differences in the name of sports and competition. While Iwish my Chinese fans all the luck in the world, I will be loudlycheering for my countrymen and the USA!!!!! It should be a greatmedal competition between our two great countries. Best ofluck!!!!!

I will be checking in over the next 2 weeks to give my thoughts onthe games; it's going to be great!

我知道這個開幕式對於中國來說有多麼重要，對於他們來說，這是向 世界重新介紹中國悠久歷史和偉大傳統的機會，我肯定全世界觀看了這場開幕式的人們，也都會留下深刻的印象。

我由衷的為我的好朋友姚明感到高興，我知道他能被選為旗手有多麼自豪。和姚明一起走在中國代表 團前面的那個小男孩，是四川地震央鼓勵同學逃生的小英雄，這同樣是一個令人鼓舞的故事。看上去，能和姚明一起走在中國代表 團前面他很開心，我不知道他是否理解這個場合有多麼的盛大重要，不過他表 現的很好。

開幕式的舞蹈和藝術表 演看得我眼珠子都快掉下來了，整個開幕式是如此美妙，演員的執行力也是精確無比。可以想象，這樣的演出經過了多少次嚴格刻苦的訓練，我個人最喜歡的是舞臺演員在畫卷 上畫出山河和太陽的那一段，翩翩起舞的同時繪出精美的畫卷 ，這簡直太有創造性了！

我對奧運會的比賽充滿期待，全世界的優秀運動員可以不分國界在一個舞臺上同場競技，雖然我會祝福中國隊好運，但是奧運會期間我肯定會全力為我的同胞和美國代表 團加油！我知道，中美兩個偉大的國家之間將有一場激烈的獎牌之爭，祝我們大家好運！

兩個星期之後我會再更新博客，寫下我對奧運比賽的感受。

I know that ended waytoo early but I am proud of the way that our team fought to the endof the season. The Utah Jazz were a formidable foe and we knew thatit would be a very difficult series for us. Going into the series,we had a number of factors that were working against us, RaferAlston was hurt, both TMac and I were battling nagging injuries andthe biggest obstacle, Yao was still missing! After losing game 1and 2 at home, most people thought that the Jazz would sweep us. Wecould have very easily thrown in the towel and quit, but wecontinued to fight and won game 3 in Utah. We had a greatopportunity to win game 4, but we just didn't make the plays thatwe needed to make to win. We played our best game of the series ingame 5 and beat Utah by more than 25 points. We felt that wecontinued to improve every game.

In our playoffseries with the Utah Jazz, we finally won a home game after losingthe first two at home to bring the series record to 3-2 in favor ofthe Jazz. This has been a very fiercely fought, high intensitymatchup with the Jazz. Aside from game 1, we have played wellenough to win, but just haven't been able to make the plays downthe stretch to gain an advantage on the Jazz. After winning tonight95-69, I feel that it was the closest game that we have played thatmirrored our 22 game winning streak. We played confident and weplayed together. Those qualities were always present during ourrecord setting 22 game winning streak.

We have finally clinched a playoff spot and we only have 4 gamesleft in our season. It's crazy because the season (as always) seemsto fly by. It seems like yesterday that we were in Austin, Texasfor the start of training camp. When your team is winning and youenjoy your teammates, the season goes by very fast. I am proud ofthe fact that this is the fifth season out of my seven years in theNBA that teams that I have played on have made the playoffs. I havebeen very fortunate. Some players play their entire career andnever experience playoff basketball.

 The recent winning streak has ended.After winning 22 straight games, we lost to Boston and New Orleans. It was an emotionally drainingrun, the media demands alone made every win more difficult. TheLos Angeles Lakers had a 33 gamewinning streak, but if they had to deal with the media pressure anddistraction that we had to, I don't think they would have won thatmany, haha. We can now get back to the business of improving ourteam and focus on winning games to get to the playoffs.

Wow. As I write this, I have just arrived homefrom Atlanta where we have won our 20th game in a row. I am indisbelief. People have asked me how we have done it and I don'treally have a good answer for them. 20 straight wins ties therecord for the second longest winning streak in NBA history withthe 1971 Milwaukee Bucks with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and OscarRobertson. The all-time record for consecutive wins is 33 by the1972 Los Angeles Lakers. I still can't believe that we are in thiscompany.

I want to wish all of my friends and fans out there a veryhealthy and prosperous New Year. I hope everyone's dreams come trueand that the Olympics are great in Beijing this year.
 
The Rockets are finally playing much better basketball as of late.We have won 8 games on the road which is very difficult to do. Weare a better road team than a home team, which is very strange foran NBA team. After our slow start, we have climbed back into theplayoff hunt and are knocking on the door of making the playoffs.The season is so long that you must stay the course and not get toohappy when things are going well, but not get too down when you hita rough patch. We still have much work to do because the teamsahead of us in the standings are very good and will continue to wingames.
 
Hopefully we can take the confidence we gained on the road andapply it to the Toyota Center!
 
Did you see the Laker trade for my former teammate Pau Gasol? Wow!It makes the Lakers the team to beat in the West as far as I amconcerned. While I am happy for Pau because he is my friend, itcertainly makes our job much tougher!!!!!

There havebeen games that we should have won but let slip away for somereason or another. Those are the most frustrating games without adoubt. After 42 games, our record stands at 23-19. If the seasonended today, we would be out of the playoffs. Ouch! Luckily westill have 40 games left to make our move towards the playoffs. TheWestern Conference is the tougher conference. Besides the standardpace setters SanAntonio,Dallas,and Phoenix,there are a number of teams playing at a very high level in theWest. NewOrleans andPortlandare the mostsurprising teams that have played great. Chris Paul is having anMVP season for the Hornets and the Blazers are playing great teambasketball. GoldenState,Los Angeles Lakers, and theDenver Nuggets are alsoplaying at a high level as well. Utah,the team that beat us in the playoffs last year,would not even qualify if the playoffs started today.Utahis a reallygood team too.
